4-yr-old critical after man falls on her from fourth floor
In a freak incident, a four-year-old girl walking on the street was critically injured after a man fell on her from the fourth floor of a building, in Tondiarpet on Sunday night.

This incident took place when the girl, Dhanyasree, was walking along with her grandfather Arunagiri on Sanjeevirayan Street at 8.30 pm.
Police said the man, R Siva (26), a tailor, was talking on the phone while standing in the balcony on the fourth floor of the building where he resided. Lost in the conversation, Siva lost balance when he tried to lean on the wall, and fell down, landing on Dhanyasree who was walking along the street below. Neighbours who rushed to the spot took both Siva and the girl to the hospital.
Dhanyasree was first admitted at Apollo Hospital in Tondiarpet, before being shifted to the facility in Greams Road. Her condition remained critical as she suffered grievous head injuries.
Dhanyasree’s father Sreedhar is into packaged drinking water business and his family lives on Narasaiyah Street at Old Washermanpet. Siva too suffered injuries and is undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Royapuram. Tondiarpet police have registered a case and are investigating whether Siva was drunk or whether it was a suicide attempt.
Newly-married lady doc kills self
A 26-year-old lady doctor hanged self at her house in Madipakkam on Monday evening. The deceased, Dr Shalini from Andhra Pradesh. She moved to Chennai after marrying Dr Vishnu Bharath (29) November last year. It is said that the couple often quarrelled, as the girl’s family did not give the dowry they promised. Returned home from work on Monday, Vishnu Bharath noticed the house was locked from inside. When he broke open the door, he saw Shalini dead. Madipakkam police have registered a case and are questioning him.
Student from Tiruvarur ends life
A 21-year-old engineering student jumped to death from the third floor of a hostel building on his college campus in Thoraipakkam on Sunday. The deceased S Sabarinathan of Needamangalam in Tiruvarur was a third-year EEE student at a private engineering college. On Sunday morning, Sabarinathan jumped from the third floor of his hostel on the campus, and suffered grievous head injuries. Shocked by this, fellow students alerted the hostel authorities who rushed him to a nearby hospital. But he was declared brought dead. His body was sent to Royapettah GH for post-mortem examination. Police are enquiring his friends to ascertain why he ended his life. Meanwhile, Sabarinathan’s parents staged a protest in Needamangalam raising suspicion over his son’s death.
