The federation had organised a similar protest earlier with over 1000 teachers participating, where they put forward 15 of their demands, which include fair pay, implementation of the old pension scheme and being allowed to pursue higher education.
“We were earlier assured that our demands will be met, but nothing has happened so far,” said S Moses, deputy general secretary of the federation. “We want middle school teachers be given salary on part with the central government employees. We also want the old pension scheme to be brought back,” he explained.
The teachers had earlier planned a continuous protest but limited it to one day because of the JACTTO-GEO protest on February 11.
