According to RMC officials, Friday was warmer than normal in many parts of Tamil Nadu. The two weather observatories in Chennai at Nungambakkam and airport recorded nearly two degrees above the normal maximum temperatures.
“In such a condition, similar trend is expected to be seen for two more weeks. Most districts will also see day-time temperatures increasing couple of degrees above normal,” an official said. He added that the weather could return to normal from the weekend, though the cold nights are unlikely to return.
“The state saw its best rainfall day of 2018 on Wednesday, as the deficit for the period since start of the new year was reduced by more than half. More than nine-millimeter of rain was recorded on Wednesday,” the official said.
In Tamil Nadu, the best spell of rains was witnessed in places along the Western Ghats bordering Kerala. K Srikanth, a weather blogger of Chennaiyil Oru Mazhaikkalam, said, “South and west interior Tamil Nadu recorded good rain on Wednesday. This will be the last spell for the next fortnight.”
