He, however, fled when a few policemen questioned him. The city police have formed four special teams to nab the man. The man’s fake identity card — which Deepa’s husband Madhavan took a photo of — states that his Mitesh Kumar. The police suspect that the raid was fabricated and are looking for the man to find out what he was up to. The incident took place around 5.30 am on Saturday.

Deepa’s husband Madhavan who lodged a complaint later at Mambalam police station, said that the man showed up at the house and introduced himself and claimed that he is from the Income Tax department. He also showed his ID card and a search warrant, and told Madhavan that the other officials would come at 10 am and he has been sent to ensure that no one leaves the house till then. Since Deepa was not at home, Madhavan called his lawyer. The news spread, and journalists gathered in front of the house. The lawyer checked the warrant and alerted the Mambalam police on suspicion.

Meanwhile, Mitesh Kumar started regulating the journalists and asked them to stay away from the house. When a few policemen reached the spot and questioned him, Kumar fled the spot. The police and people from the media gave him a chase but he managed to escape. Speaking to DT Next, Madhavan said that he had never met Kumar before.

“He told me that the I-T department decided to raid the house based on complaints that MAD Peravai had cheated many people of their money. I told him that I did not have a problem with the search.” “He then wanted to discuss some of the complaints but I refused saying that the police are investigating them. He became restless after my lawyer and the police arrived at the house. But I couldn’t believe how he managed to escape despite the presence of over 25 police personnel,” Madhavan said. Meanwhile, additional commissioner (south) TS Anbu said that an inquiry has been initiated and the man would be nabbed soon.
