One more held in actress harassment case

The Mambalam All Women Police have arrested one more person in connection with the harassment complaint filed by noted actress Amala Paul two weeks ago. The man, identified as Bhaskaran from Pallavaram, was nabbed following information received from Azhagesan, who was arrested on the day of the incident.

Police said that Azhagesan, who went to meet Amala Paul at the behest of Bhaskaran, is indirectly involved with the event management firm that organised show in Malaysia. Police established the link between the two through their call details. 

They have also found out that firm’s Chennai division manager Razaq was also connected to the incident, and have launched a search for him. The incident took place on January 31 when Amala Paul and a few other artistes were rehearsing at a dance studio owned by dance master Sridhar in West Mambalam for the upcoming show at Malaysia. Azhagesan, who had been making calls to Amala Paul, suddenly visited the studio and allegedly tried to harass her after she refused to entertain his friend’s private dinner invite in Malaysia.  

Meanwhile, Amala Paul issued a statement rejecting rumours that her manager Pradeep Kumar was involved in the incident. “The investigation is going on. That’s the only reason I decided to keep quiet. But police haven’t found any ill-doing on behalf of my manger Pradeep Kumar or any of my team members,” she clarified. Police had inquired Pradeep Kumar a day after the incident and let him off.
