In the first incident, a 29-year-old man left behind four suicide notes, including one for his girlfriend and the police. In the letter to the female friend, P Santhoshkumar, who was engaged to marry another woman on March 19, adviced her to move on. In a separate letter the police, he requested them not to dig too deep into the motives of his suicide as their hands were already full.
Police said that Santhoshkumar, a cost accountant and a resident of Shanthi Nagar in Adambakkam, slashed his wrist before jumping to death from a third-floor apartment where he was staying alone for last three years. He landed inside a corporation park, where people were engaged in games and morning walk at 6.30 am on Thursday.
He was taken to the RGGGH, where he was declared dead at 10.50 am. On searching his apartment, police found the four suicide notes, addressed to his parents, brother, girlfriend and police.
While he said sorry to his parents, he adviced his brother to live the life without fearing the society or the community. “Don’t keep thinking of me. You chose your path and move on,” he said in the letter to his female friend. He also apologised to the police for the trouble caused. “Don’t waste your time by investigating this case. Please hand over my body to my family after finishing your formalities,” he said in his letter to the police.
In the second case of suicide, an 18-year-old boy committed suicide by hanging on Wednesday night, as his parents were reportedly against his love. The deceased M Durairaj, a resident of Mampedu at Tambaram, was an electrician.
On Wednesday night, when he reached home from work, his parents Maari and Thulasi were asleep.
Durairaj had locked their room from outside and committed suicide in his room. When they came out with neighbour’s help and broken open Durairaj’s room, he was found hanging inside.
