This is the 74th glass panel that has broken since the airport was renovated in 2012, and the first since the glasses were replaced by better quality ones’ last year. On Wednesday at 11.45 pm, a glass panel of about four-ft height fell on the third entrance of the domestic terminal.
Since the entry was used only for moving trolleys, no one was present there at that time, said airport officials. While they browsed the CCTV footage to ascertain how the glass had broken, they found that an iron bolt from a speeding car tire from the nearby flyover hit the glass. Officials said that they were trying to find the owner of the car and will ask him to pay a fine for the damage.
