The trustee Sampath Kumar was reportedly out on bail recently after being arrested based on a similar complaint on December 10. He is also facing a criminal case filed by HR and CE department before the Madras High Court alleging irregularities in the trust in Mylapore.

After the death of their father, Alwar Chetty, the management of TVR Subbu Chetty Trust was handed over to the elder brother Sampathkumar, said D Sudarshan (56), narrating the sequence of events during a press meet on Saturday, flanked by his sisters, Subhashini (67), Sumathi (66) and Suguna Gayathri (65).

However, he added, instead of fulfilling the trust’s responsibilities, Sampathkumar sold properties using forged documents without their knowledge. After the siblings filed a complaint with HR and CE dept, Sampathkumar and two aides – manager Jayasekar and trustee Parthasarathy – were suspended from the trust in 2009 following an inquiry. A criminal suit was also filed against him at the High Court.

Later, it was found that he sold properties worth Rs 58 crore. They charged Sampathkumar of usurping another family trust, Sri Uppattur Alwar Chetty Charities. The other trustees Uppattur Ramesh and Uppattur Swaroop were prevented from entering the trust premises in Mylapore, even after a high court’s order granting them equal rights.

“There are always 20 men preventing us from entering the building. Sampathkumar has also frozen the bank accounts,” alleged Ramesh. The women also sought protection from their brother’s men as they stay alone at home.
