Stanley Hospital gets subspecialty clinics

Health Minister C Vijaya Baskar on Wednesday inaugurated five subspecialty clinics in the plastic surgery department at Stanley Medical College and Hospital, besides launching the continuing medical education programme on hand transplantation there.

The five sub–specialty clinics are breast aesthetic surgery clinic, cleft lip clinic, advanced wound care clinic, hand transplantation clinic and a hand injury clinic. 

The minister also felicitated the 98-member transplant team who performed the state’s first hand transplant recently at the hospital. Earlier this month, the hands of a brain-dead patient were transplanted on a 29-year-old from Dindigul, who lost both his hands after being electrocuted. Vijaya Baskar honoured the donor family on the occasion. 

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami inaugurated in-patient ward at Gobichettipalayam Government College constructed at a cost of Rs 2.2 crore via video conferencing. He also inaugurated buildings worth Rs 10.45 crore and medical equipment worth Rs 74 lakh.
