IIT Madras signs MoU with NPTEL, glass industry

The National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) has tied up with the glass industry to reach out to budding architects and civil engineers to create awareness on efficient use of glass in construction sector.

The NPTEL and IIT Madras entered into an MoU with Glass Academy Foundation in this regard, which was signed by IIT M director Bhaskar Ramamurthi and the chairman of the academy’s advisory board, CN Raghavendran. IIT-M would provide content for the course, which is the first-of-its-kind to be offered as a Massive Open Online course in an open learning mode in India.

With the involvement of IIT M, NPTEL aims to take this course to 1,600 colleges and educational institutions in the country.

The first joint activity would be to co-offer an online certification courses for architecture and civil engineering students in the July-Dec 2018 semester. The possibility of offering internships and job to top performers is also being explored.
