Stall 7, the ultimate frisbee team, is looking for sponsors to fund its trip

The 24-member squad of Stall 7, comprising both boys and girls, is the only representative from India, and will be aiming to get one over against bigger and more financially-aided team from countries across the world.

“The WUCC is the club championship in Ultimate Frisbee – and it’s a great honour to be going. We are ranked third in India, and since the first and second-ranked teams pulled out, we got the opportunity to travel to Cincinnati,” said Vishnu Sharma, a team member. But with a whopping amount of Rs 56 lakh required to fund their trip, the team is looking out for sponsors and a crowd-funding campaign to help its cause.

“Ultimate Frisbee is a non-profit sport in the sense that we don’t get paid to play, nor is there too much money in winning. So, the Cincinnati journey has to be self-funded,” he added. The team, creditably, focuses and actively promotes gender-equality.

Richa Shah, a female player in the team, stated, “The team was conceptualised in 2009, and the players take care of everything – from organizing tournaments to training young aspirants. The idea is to break sporting barriers and spread the word that men and women can compete on an equal basis.”
