On Tuesday morning, Shakila Bibi (35) entered the hospital ward wearing a doctor’s coat and a stethoscope. As she strode in confidently and began examining the patients, the hospital staff initially thought that she might be a trainee doctor. But they grew suspicious about the way she talked and the questions she posed to the patients. When the staff questioned her, she shouted at
them asking them not to disturb her while she was busy examining patients.
Following this, the staff informed the dean, and she was later taken to RMO Dr Gajendran. She reportedly told him that she was doing MSc in nursing at JIPMER, Puducherry, and that she was at the hospital to write an exam. But there were no examinations scheduled. When the staff checked with JIPMER, the officials there said she was not from the institution.
Suspecting that she might be mentally disturbed, hospital authorities informed the police. The police conducted an inquiry and registered a case. Shakila was later taken to the Institute of Mental Health.
