Imposter I-T man held on robbery charges
A 45-year-old man, who tried to extort money from a computer hardware store in Medavakkam by posing as an Income Tax official was chased and caught by the victim and handed over to police.

The accused, N Pazhanivel (45) of Kilpauk, worked as a temporary staff at commercial tax office in 2003. With the knowledge he gained then, Pazhanivel approached S Kandhan (35) of Medavakkam claiming to be an I-T official and demanded his shop’s documents for verification.
Later, he asked Kandhan to pay Rs 3,000 as penalty. When Kandhan asked for identity proof, Pazhanivel tried to flee the spot. He was then caught by Kandhan and remanded in judicial custody.
