Two medicos among four killed in accident

Four persons, including two medical college students, were killed and two others suffered grievous injuries when the car in which they were travelling rammed a stationary lorry near Maduranthagam on Saturday morning

Police said P Deepan Chakaravarthy (23) of Tirupur, along with S Prashanth (23) of Namakkal, both students of a medical college in Dharmapuri, had come to the city a few days ago. The duo along with their friends Aishwarya (23), Sukumar (24), Akila (23) and Sarath Sai Chandran (22), all software professionals in Chennai, planned a road trip to Senkottai.

On Saturday, as they were returning to Chennai, the car rammed a stationary lorry parked on the Tiruchy - Chennai National Highway, near Kolampakkam in Maduranthagam. In the impact, Deepan, Prashanth and Aishwarya died on the spot, while Sukumar died at the Chengalpattu GH. The condition of Akila and Sarath Sai Chandran is said to be critical. Padalam police have registered a case and investigating.
