“There was no gun. Only six bullets and a magazine were found in a bag abandoned in the AC compartment in the train that reached around 6 am at Chennai Central station,” said a railway police inspector. The bag with bullets were found by the staff who were cleaning the coaches after all passenger left the wagons,

police added.

Police said they were taking details of passengers travelled in the compartment to find out who carried them. “A minister from Madhya Pradesh travelled for a short distance in the train when it passed through his state. Details of other passengers are being gathered,” police said.

The recovery of bullets from the train created a flutter in police circles, as this is the second incident in this year. It may be recalled that two men were arrested with six guns and counterfeit currency after they reached the city from West Bengal by train in January.
