The villagers belong to Molachur and Tirumangalam panchayats, which comes under Sriperumbudur panchayat union. The protestors claimed that even basic amenities like proper lighting and roads have not been provided to their areas. They also stated that Palkarar street and Pallam street, which is in the middle of the two panchayats, are being ignored by both. The villagers, who were carrying mats, tried to protest by lying on the floor. Since the police did not allow them to do so, they entered the collector office demanding attention.

Later, few of protesters were taken to the District Revenue Office (DRO) where they listed out their demands to the officials. After the officials promised to consider their demands, the protesting villagers agreed to disperse.

However, they issued a warning that they would block the Chennai - Bangalore National Highway if no action was taken on their grievances.
