SDAT invites applications for hostel admission

A senior official from SDAT said on Tuesday that the organisation is running five Centre of Excellence Sports Hostels in Tamil Nadu for school boys and girls where the inmates were provided advanced training in sports and nutritious diet. For boys, hostels have been set up at Chennai, Tiruchy and Tirunelveli, while girls’ sports hostel are situated in Chennai and Erode. 

The official said that for this year the SDAT would concentrate on athletics, badminton, taekwondo, boxing, gymnastics, tennis and swimming for boys. 

The disciplines available for girls include athletics, badminton table tennis and gymnastics.

Students will have to approach offices of district sports and youth welfare officers from March 30 onwards, said the official, adding that preference would be given to students who have secured medals in state and national level competitions. 

The application forms can also be downloaded from the SDAT website – www.sdat.tn.gov.in. The filled in forms should be submitted on May 11 by 8 am at the state level selection venue.

The official added that state level inter-university competitions would also be held in athletics, badminton, basketball, football, hockey, kabaddi, table tennis, tennis, volleyball, swimming, weight lifting and handball.
