Theni Superintendent of Police Baskaran issued the suspension order to A Raghu (28) and J Ganesh (28) and said the action was taken after complaints were received against them. Sources said that further action against them will be decided at the end of inquiry. However, the AR personnel accused seniors of failing to listen to their grievances.

Belonging to the firearms unit of the police in Theni district, the two came to the DGP office on March 21 to submit a petition alleging caste-based discrimination they faced in their unit.

Suddenly, Raghu and Ganesh suddenly poured kerosene on themselves in front of the DGP office on March 21. Shocked colleagues foiled their attempt, after which Marina police took them for investigation.
