Police sources said that the musician’s wife Zafroon Nisa and kin returned home at Ethiraj Salai around 2.40 am on Tuesday. When they were in the car parking, they were shocked to notice that their another car, an Audi A6, was missing.
As their driver, Nawaz, who told them he had parked car in the apartment around 5 pm the previous day, was not reachable, Zafroon Nisa believed that the vehicle was stolen and filed a police complaint through their employee Rajarajan.
Police reached the apartment and combed the CCTV footage but were surprised to see the car parked in Level 3 instead of the designated lot on Level 2.
When police reached the car, Nawaz was found sleeping inside. When inquired, Nawaz told police he slept inside the car and phone ran out of battery and got switched off.
Sources said that Yuvan Shankar Raja’s regular driver is on leave, Nawaz joined the duty only three months ago. Though he is said to be from Zafroon’s hometown, she panicked as the car worth more than Rs 50 lakh vanished. Yuvan Shankar Raja was not in town when the incident happened.
