Robbery at knifepoint: Duo arrested in Chengalpattu

Investigating a case of a software professional being robbed at knifepoint, police found two of the suspects at Chengalpattu government hospital where they were admitted after meeting with an accident.

Police tracked the duo to the hospital using mobile phone tower location of the victim’s phone, as they had not switched off the device. Sanjay Kumar (25), a native of Jharkhand, was returning from office to his room in Singaperumal Koil when four youngsters on two bikes intercepted his vehicle. They attacked him and took away his mobile phone and wallet. 

As they were escaping, said police, one of the bikes skidded near Chengalpattu bypass, leaving two of the robbers with severe injuries. Siva (25) and Dinesh Babu (21) of Vallam village were admitted at the GH. Meanwhile, when Chengalpattu police began investigation, they tracked his mobile phone and found the robbers at the hospital. Police said they have confessed to the crime, adding that search was on for the others.
