CSK ‘super fan’ attacked outside MAC stadium

The opposition that people in Tamil Nadu have towards IPL being hosted in Chennai, despite the Cauvery problem, has begun to hurt CSK fans, quite literally. Saravanan Hari, who has come to be identified as a CSK mascot — known for painting his whole body yellow to support his team — was attacked by a group of protestors outside the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Tuesday.

Saravanan was outside the stadium ahead of the franchise’s first IPL game of the season in Chennai when a group of people came up and assaulted him. Speaking to TV channels after he was attacked by a group of people, he said, “They hit me and ran away. At first there were around seven people but more joined in later. I don’t know why they wanted to hurt me. They beat me on my head and the back.” Saravanan said that he is considering taking legal action against the group of attackers.

He, however, tweeted during the game that he was “safe and super” inside the stadium.
