CMRL, SBI launch app for cashless commute
Chennai Metro Rail Limited in association with SBI launched an application — SBI Pay — exclusively for the commuters of Chennai Metro. Pankaj Kumar Bansal IAS, Managing Director of CMRL and SBI DMD Padmaja Chunduru introduced the app to the public at Koyambedu metro station on Wednesday. The Unified Payments Interface (UPI)-based app can sync with other banks’ UPI/e-Wallets and it is real-time based.
Commuters can initiate a cashless top-up and purchase tokens with this app. They can also use their own Bank’s UPI app (presently 64 banks active) to make transactions. As the MIS and transaction history are instantaneous, commuters can easily confirm the status of their transactions. The app can help all metro passengers. It enables and helps our society inclining towards the cashless and digital economy.
