Snake found in Kanchi Collector’s office

Tension prevailed at the office of Kancheepuram Collector after an eight-foot long rat snake was found inside the record section on Thursday afternoon.

According to sources, when an employee was searching for a file in the records section on Thursday, he heard a strange noise from under a file. He moved the files thinking that it was a mouse and was shocked to see a big snake.

The employees started shouting, ran out of the room and locked it from outside to prevent the snake from coming out. The news about a big snake created a flutter at the collectorate, and the staff came out in fear. Soon, Kancheepuram police was alerted, who in turn informed the Tamil Nadu Fire and Rescue Service Department. Kancheepuram fire squad reached the collector’s office and caught the snake after searching for an hour. Rat snake is non-poisonous.
