According to weathermen, the temperature is likely to remain between 36 to 37 degree Celsius in the Chennai and its suburbs.

“Our models are indicating a slight increase in temperatures compared to the last couple of days. This increase is expected to be more visible in north interior and central parts of the state,” said a duty official at RMC.

He also said there is a possibility of rains in southern districts, while moderate thunderstorms might be witnessed in isolated places along the Western Ghats.

“Since the Easterlies will remain relatively dominant for two more days, we can expect rains in parts of southern TN. While heavy rains are less likely, one or two places near the Western Ghats along both sides of the southern border with Kerala could witness a moderate spell,” added the official.

According to K Srikanth, who blogs at Chennaiyil Our Mazhaikkalam, “the last couple of days have seen temperatures staying below normal in most parts of the state.” Tiruttani, which was the hottest place in the state the last three days, will continue to remain very warm, the blogger added. On Sunday, a maximum temperature of 35.4 and 36.9 degree Celsius was recorded in Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam respectively.
