Fake passport ring: CRPF man among 2 held
A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) officer and a temporary worker on contract at the at the city airport were held in connection with an ongoing investigation into a fake passport network.

The arrest comes nearly a month after Central Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths busted a network and arrested two immigration officials who allegedly worked in connivance with fake passport agents.
R Giridharaprasath (40), who is currently posted in Tiruchy, worked with fake passport agents and allowed people with forged passport without checking them when he worked as a counter officer on deputation at Chennai airport.
The other accused S Manivannan (41) is the office assistant of airport administration office. Both were remanded in judicial custody on Tuesday. Earlier, CCB sleuths had arrested seven men, including two immigration officials – D Jayasingh (42) of K K Nagar and R Stephen (57) of Ullagaram – in connection with the same case. The duo has been nabbed based on the information revealed by the duo.
