Passes for visitors to GH from this week
Visitors at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (RGGGH) will be issued passes for themselves and their vehicles this week onwards. The programme, aimed at keeping a check on the number of attenders who accompany the patients to the hospital, was due to be initiated in March this year.

“While the passes were already ready by March end, owing to certain issues, the programme got delayed,” said a senior doctor at the hospital. The passes were introduced to check the swelling, 20,000 strong crowd, that visit the hospital daily.
“We are hoping that the crowds will be reduced once the passes are introduced. It will restrict the number of visitors to just one per patient,” said Dr R Jayanthi, dean of RGGGH.
Vehicles with parking stickers would be the only ones allowed inside the premises. “We are going to open a parking space at the hospital ground to cut down the parking on the campus,” the dean added.
Besides the introduction of passes, the hospital will also have fixed visiting hours. “We are going to restrict the visiting time to three hours in the morning and four in the evening,” she added.
Stating that this should be introduced in all government hospitals, a senior doctor at the hospital said, “One tends to worry a lot in the midst of such a huge crowd. Its always about getting lost or losing valuables. If the crowds are monitored, it will also serve to rid the visitors of that fear.”
