The Corporation had launched the app ‘Namma Chennai’ to address the grievances of the public. The app is available on both Android and Apple iOS platforms. It has currently been downloaded by more than 30,000 citizens.
An official said that it received 3,738 complaints so far, of which 3,688 have been rectified. Remaining grievances would be solved soon, the civic officials said. The idea behind the app was to speed up the redressal process.
The public may use the app to lodge complaints on maintenance of streetlights, garbage clearance, repair of roads, storm water drains maintenance and other civic issues in their locality.
The complaints received through the app will be forwarded to the respective departments and once action has been taken, the complainant will be informed. The app will also have statistics and data related to Smart Cities project, starting from digital class rooms to Corporation parks.
After the launch of the app, Chennaiites need not necessarily dial 1913 or navigate the local body’s painstakingly slow website to register complaints. The app allows users to upload photos and register grievances.
