People wave Rs 20 notes again at TTV Dhinakaran
A group of 50 people, including women, gathered along the route of Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam deputy general secretary TTV Dhinakaran at RK Nagar and held protest demonstrations waving Rs 20 notes at him alleging that the notes were distributed with the promise of paying Rs 10,000 for each vote in the RK Nagar bypoll.

These protests were held during the RK Nagar MLA’s visit to Tondiarpet in his constituency to distribute solatium of Rs 1 lakh each to the families of three students who died during a school tour to Pune where they drowned in a dam.
Showing the Rs 20 notes, the protesters raised slogans, “Here is Rs 20. Where is Rs 10,000?” Dhinakaran’s supporters had an altercation with them and chased them away. Policemen who rushed to the area pacified both the groups and brought the situation under control.
The protesters complained that they were attacked by Dhinakaran’s supporters and about 15 women sustained injuries in the assault.
Traffic was disrupted for some time due to the clashes. This is the second protests faced by Dhinakaran on the same allegation. Functionaries of AMMK said the people who held the protests are the supporters of former minister E Madhusudhanan who lost the bypoll.
A similar protest was held on April 29 during Dhinakaran’s visit to RK Nagar. Dhinakaran himself had denied the allegations saying, “Neither myself nor my supporter Vetrivel had distributed the notes and promised them to give money.”
