It was initially known as Misquith and Co and was started by a Portuguese named Misquith. Later, sometime in the 1890s, the name was changed to Musee Musical. There’s a long list of musicians who have had a close association with Musee Musical at some point of their musical journey. The store organises a ‘Meet the Musicians’ programme every two months, aimed at facilitating an interaction with well-known musicians. The store also has a 100-year-old three-string double bass, a centre table used at a banquet when Queen Elizabeth II visited Madras and a yellowing global directory of musical and piano salons across the British Empire.
