Shop owner held for selling tablets sans prescription

Police arrested a medical shop owner for selling sleeping pills and painkillers without doctors’ prescription.

Rooban Chakravarthy (32), of Kodambakkam, runs a medical shop at Jafferkhanpet.

“Two days ago, Rooban sold Painkillers to Raj (18), of St Thomas Mount, without a prescription,” police said.

Rooban allegedly demanded Rs 100 for the tablet worth Rs 60 and this resulted in an argument and subsequent fisticuff, police added.

Raj lodged a complaint at the MGR police station and the police arrested Rooban. During the investigation, police found that Rooban has been selling sleeping pills and painkillers without a prescription.
