An 18-year-old youth was found murdered with multiple cut injuries and his hands and legs tied on Sunday near Chengalpattu.

The deceased, U Naveen Kumar (18) of KK Nagar in Chengalpattu was working as a part time cook and painter. Police said that Naveen went with his friends on Saturday night and did not return home.

Meanwhile, a few shepherds who had gone to Thattanmalai hills on Sunday afternoon noticed a dead body in a pool of blood abandoned near a rivulet.

On information, Chengalpattu town police rushed to the spot recovered the body and sent it to the Chengalpattu GH for post-mortem examination.

After preliminary inquiry, police suspect that he could have been murdered in a drunken brawl with his friends and have detained a few of them for interrogation.

Naveen Kumar’s father Umapathy is a daily wage labourer. The police officers also added that Naveen was addicted to ganja.
