Man murders wife, nabbed
A 27-year-old man allegedly strangled his wife to death and escaped from his house at Sriperumbudur on Thursday. The suspect was arrested later from a hideout and was remanded in judicial custody.

The deceased was identified as Banupriya (23), wife of Satish. The couple were living at Pudunallur near Sriperumbudur, along with the woman’s parents. They were childless for eight years and quarrelled over the matter frequently.
It was one such quarrel that led to the murder on Thursday, said police sources. Satish wrapped his belt around her neck and strangled her, before slitting her throat using a kitchen knife.
The victim’s mother, who returned home after buying groceries, found her daughter lying dead in a pool of blood. She informed police, who sent the woman’s body for autopsy. Then, Satish was tracked to a house in Somangalam and arrested.
Slits wife’s throat, attempts suicide
A 26-year-old man murdered his wife and attempted to end his life, in Pattabiram near Avadi on Thursday. The man, identified as Venkatesan, an engineer and a resident of Charles Nagar, has been admitted to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital with a deep cut injury on his neck.
Venkatesan and his wife Madhumita (23), also an engineer, were living in a rented house in Pattabiram after their marriage.
According to police, their neighbours heard screams from the house on Thursday. When they rushed there, they found the woman lying on the floor with cut injury on neck and Venkatesan also lying unconscious with blood gushing out of his throat.
Following this, the neighbours informed police and also alerted the ‘108’ ambulance. The couple taken to Kilpauk Medical College Hospital, where Madumita was declared dead on arrival. Sources said Venkatesan is also critical. Further investigation is on.
