Gold, cash burgled in Velachery

Unidentified persons broke open a house in Velachery and escaped with 200 sovereigns and Rs 7 lakh in cash on Friday night.

in cash on Friday night. MS Ilangeshwaran (47), a businessman and resident of Jayanthi Street at Dr Seethapathy Nagar, had left for his hometown in Sivaganga district on Friday along with his family. However, he received a phone call from one of his neighbours on Saturday that his house doors were found open. 

Ilangeshwaran immediately asked his friends to visit his home, who found that the house was burgled. Based on his complaint, Velachery police have registered a case and are investigating. Along with his brother, Ilangeshwaran runs a supermarket chain. In another incident, two houses in Abiramapuram were burgled of 8.5 Kg silver articles when the occupants were away.
