Techie robbed near Vandalur railway station
A 32-year-old software engineer was attacked by a gang, who snatched his six-sovereign gold chain and smartphone, near Vandalur railway station on Saturday night.

The victim Santhosh Kumar, a resident of Vandalur, is working as a software professional at a private firm in Mahendra City.
The incident took place when Santhosh was on the way to Vandalur railway station to catch a train to Tambaram, from where he had planned to go Tiruchy. When he was near the station, suddenly three men attacked him and snatched his chain and the smartphone. When Santhosh resisted, they beat him up and threw him in the bushes before fleeing the spot.
Later, passers-by who noticed him lying unconscious rushed him to the hospital and informed his family members.
When his family members went to file a complaint at Tambaram railway police, they were turned away citing jurisdiction and asked to file a complaint at Vandalur police station. When they approached Vandalur police, the officers asked them to file a complaint with railway police. Finally, Vandalur police registered a case in the afternoon, sources said.
Meanwhile, residents lamented about the increase in robbery incidents in the locality.
