Domioy Goy (36) and Dyal (38) were treated for the injuries at the hospital inside the prison premises, and a case has been registered against Magir Dervam (45) of Turkey for attacking the duo.

Prison sources said that an argument erupted among the three during the evening walk on Tuesday. On Wednesday, when the three were standing in a queue to get breakfast, the Portuguese men allegedly verbally abused the man from Turkey. In a of rage, the latter hurled stones at them.

The duo suffered injuries and were rushed to the hospital. Magir Dervam was secured by wardens and sent to his cell. Puzhal police have registered a case regarding the incident.

While the Portuguese men were arrested by Meenambakkam police in November last year, the Turkey national, who was also caught for carrying a fake passport, has been lodged in the prison for longer, said sources. There are about 25 prisoners from various foreign nations who are lodged in Puzhal prison. There is a separate facility for them at the prison. As they are caught for crimes such as fake passports and smuggling of drugs, they would be listed as international criminals. They would not be able to get bail unlike the other local trial accused.
