2 on bike snatch actor’s cellphone

The actor Sanjana Singh who resides in Mogappair was cycling through Anna Nagar when she was targeted by snatchers, who followed and struck when they found an opportunity near Chintamani.

“I was checking for directions when a duo, one of them wearing a helmet, suddenly snatched my phone and fled. I tried to chase them on the cycle, but could not. My fellow cycle riders, too, went in search in different directions, but they managed to escape,” said Sanjana, who has appeared in supporting roles in Tamil and Telugu movies such as Renigunta and Ko.

Based on her complaint, police registered a case and have collected CCTV footage from the locality to identify the snatchers. Despite a crackdown on repeated offenders and history-sheeters, chain snatching incidents are being reported in different parts of the city on a daily basis.

Meanwhile, following an operation headed by T Nagar Deputy Commissioner P Aravindhan, police have arrested nine persons in Teynampet and Mambalam police limits on Friday. ‘Dori’ Kannan (26), Nandakumar (22), Vignesh (22), Johnson (23), Vivek (20) were arrested by the Mambalam, while Magesh (28), Vigneshwaran (19), Vijayan (19) and Gokul (21) were secured by the Teynampet police.
