2,000 policemen donate blood in city
More than 2,000 police personnel participated in the blood camp organised by the State Police Department at Rajarathnam stadium in Egmore on Friday.

Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami inaugurated the blood donation camp that was held to create awareness among the public. A medical team from Kilpauk Medical College was present to supervise the blood donation. Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, health minister C Vijayabaskar, Chief Secretary Girija Vaidyanathan and other top officials took part in the programme.
Later, talking to reporters, Health Minister Vijayabaskar said that not even one drop of blood will be wasted and noted that state police have pioneered and set an example to all other government departments.
The camp was organised in 89 places in all the districts across the state. Over 20,000 police personnel came forward to donate blood and all the donors will be given certificate from the State Government, said a press release.
