Cops hunt for Malaysian couple for murder in city
Nearly three months after the body of a daily wage worker from Tiruvarur district was found in the Stanley Medical College Hospital subway, police have arrested four people, including a woman, in connection with the murder. Police are also taking steps to arrest a Malaysian woman and her husband, who allegedly hired the gang to murder him.

According to police, Vijayaragavan of Melapadi near Tiruvarur, was in a relationship with Nirmala, a woman married and settled in Malaysia, when he went to work there three years ago. Their relationship continued even after he returned to Tamil Nadu last year. Police said Nirmala, a Malaysian citizen, would often visit Vijayaragavan at her friend Sudha’s house in Tiruchy.
However, it changed when Vijayaragavan became close to another woman in Tiruchy. He informed Nirmala about this, began avoiding her. Infuriated over this, Nirmala revealed the episode to her husband Ravi, and assured to stay true to him henceforth.
Following this, Nirmala and Ravi planned to murder Vijayaragavan. In May, Nirmala came to Tiruchy and asked Vijayaragavan to come there as usual. Then, the gang - Senthil, Charles and Muthukumaran - took him to Chennai and made him consume alcohol in a park at Suriyanarayana Street in Kasimedu on May 13. After getting him drunk, they hacked his right leg; police said he bled to death.
The gang disposed of the body at the Stanley Medical College Hospital subway the next day. Nirmala, who was staying in a hotel in Pallavaram, escaped to Malaysia on May 15, police sources said
