Minor’s rape: MHAA advocates refuse to appear for accused

MHAA president G Mohankrishnan told reporters that in a meeting held on Tuesday it has been unanimously decided that none of the advocates drawn from Tamil Nadu would ever appear for the accused and that a resolution to this effect would be sent to all the associations soon.  In the event of someone appearing for the accused, they will be removed from MHAA, he said and added that those involved in such a heinous crime should not be granted bail.

Incidentally, one of the accused was over 65 years old while the others were in their fifties and forties and some as young as 25 years. All of them were inhouse workers like security guards, lift operators. plumbers, electricians and gardeners within the gated community where the girl lived with her parents.

The accused have been identified as K Murugesan (54), R Palani (40), N Abishek (23), R Sukumaran (60), Prash (58), A Umapathy (42) N Parasamasivam (60) R Ravikumar (66), R Babu (36), B Deenadayalan (50) Seenivasan (45), A Jaiganesh (23), J Raja (32), E Suria (23) and M Suresh (32), A Jayaraman (26), A Rajasekar (40) and P Gunasekar (55).
