Three women escape with 17 sovereigns from shop
Three women, on the pretext of shopping, stole 17 sovereigns from a jewellery shop in Triplicane on Sunday. The incident came to light when the owner checked the CCTV footage after he found that jewels were missing on Monday.

Ashraf Ali (41), who runs a jewellery shop on Triplicane High Road went to his hometown on Sunday and his farther Mohammed Gani (65) was taking care of the shop. When he returned on Monday and checked the sales records, he found that eleven rings, four earrings and two chains were missing from the shop.
After making inquiries with his father about any suspicious visitors, Ashraf watched the CCTV footage on Sunday.
He noticed three middle-aged women entering the shop and stealing the jewels. The CCTV footage showed three women standing in a line. While the first one is distracting Mohammed Gani with inquiries regarding the prices of the jewels, the second one is seen taking the jewels and passing onto to the third one, who hides the jewels inside her saree.
Ashraf found that all together around 17 sovereigns of gold were stolen by the trio. Based on his complaint, the Ice House police have registered a case and launched a hunt to nab the women.
