CM Edappadi Palaniswami names 6-month-old female lion cub 'Jaya'

Apart from this, the CM had announced to introduce better facilities at the the park along with drives to increase the greenery in the surroundings.

Chennai

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami named a 6-month-old lion cub 'Jaya' at the Vandalur Zoological Park, today.

The cub has been named after late CM J Jayalalithaa. 

The zoological park is functioning in Vandalur district of Kanchipuram district next to Chennai. The cub has been born to a lioness named Nila, and a lion named Siva. 

Late Chief Minister Jayalalithaa was known for her keen interest in animals apart from the state affairs. She has also named three of the new-born cubs during her tenure in office.

Currently, there are 10 male and seven female lions in the zoo. 

Apart from this, the CM had announced to introduce better facilities at the the park along with drives to increase the greenery in the surroundings.
