Rain lashes city, more spells expected
As heavy showers lashed Chennai and its suburbs on Thursday evening, weathermen predicted more rains in the next two days especially during dusk.

Heavy rain, which lasted for about 45 minutes, was reported across the city and suburbs. Neighbouring Kancheepuram and Tiruvallur also received sharp showers.
Commuters, especially office goers who were returning home, were stranded at several places, as the rain started around 5.30pm.
Waterlogging and traffic jam were reported at various parts of the city. According to officials from the Regional Meteorological department, a low-pressure area is likely to form over north Bay of Bengal in the next two to three days.
Aided by this, downpours are likely during the evening hours, which would bring the temperature down by a few degrees Celsius. “For Chennai, the sky condition is likely to be generally cloudy.
Development of thunderclouds towards evening or night. Light rain is likely to occur in some areas,” read the weather bulletin.
