The incident happened at the Indian Overseas Bank premises on Luz Church Road on Tuesday evening when its manager L Ramesh (36) was about to leave office. Police said that two men entered his cabin around 5.45 pm and told him that they are distributing the latest iPhones for a cheaper price of just Rs 15,000 for professionals and asked him if he was interested in buying one.

They have also showed the manager an iPhone and explained him about its configuration. Impressed by the offer, the manager immediately paid them the cash and received a box with its seal intact. A few minutes after the duo left, Ramesh opened the box and to his shock, there was a detergent soap inside. On Tuesday night, Ramesh lodged a complaint and Mylapore police have collected CCTV footage from the bank premises. Further inquiry is on.
