According to police, Balu, a farmer from Elavur village, was returning home after buying household items on Thursday. As he was near Elavaur railway flyover at Arambakkam near Gummidipoondi, he was confronted by a knife-wielding man, who threatened the farmer into parting with the cash he was carrying and escaped from the spot.

Based on his complaint, Arambakkam police registered a case. During investigations, they identified the suspect as Sudhakar from a village nearby. A detailed inquiry revealed that Sudhakar has double masters - MSc and MEd – who had worked at a private school. But he was dismissed from there reportedly over some serious allegation.

Since then, the man, married with three children, has been working as an office assistant at a private college, police said.
