Based on the theme ‘Stronger Bones, Stronger India,’ Orthopaedic experts will highlight the advancements made in the treatment of bone and joint related problems in the event. Addressing a press conference on Friday, Dr A Kamaraj, Founder of Dr Kamaraj Multi-Speciality Hospital and Director of Aakash Fertility Centre and Hospital and Ortho expert Dr P Radhakrishnan of International Ortho and Trauma Care, said that the public can get done BMD Scan (Bone Mineral Density) for free.
A bone mineral density test is a special type of X-ray bone to measure the amount of calcium and other minerals to check whether the bones were weaker. This test is important for people who were at risk for osteoporosis, the most common type of bone disease, especially women and older adults.
Osteoporosis causes the bone tissue to become thin and frail over time and leads to disabling fractures.
