Kakkathoppu Balaji, one more history-sheeter arrested in city
The City Police arrested an absconding gangster Kakkathoppu Balaji and another notorious history-sheeter Sangili Ganesan on Sunday night.

Kakkathoppu Balaji, who has more than 40 cases, including murder and extortion, was arrested last year and later released on bail. Since then, he was absconding and police launched a hunt for him.
Meanwhile, D Nesan (40) of Old Washermanpet was robbed of cash at knifepoint at Muthialpet on Sunday morning.
Based on his complaint, police registered a case.
A few hours later, Muthialpet police tried to intercept a speeding two-wheeler near Royapuram old bridge. When the rider attempted to flee without stopping, police chased and caught him.
During the interrogation, police found out it was Kakkathoppu Balaji, who was escaping after robbing Nesan at knifepoint. Two knives and the bike were seized from him after which he was remanded in judicial custody.
Similarly, Pulianthope police arrested a history-sheeter Sangili Ganesan and seized weapons from him. Ganesan, who has 26 cases pending against him including four murders, is a main accused in the murder of one Vijay in 2013 in Pulianthope. While police were searching him in connection with several extortion complaints, they received a tip-off that he has camped in the locality along with his aide Santhosh
Raja of T P Chathiram with a plan to murder Vijay’s gang members. Police surrounded him on Saturday night while Santhosh Raja managed to escape from the spot. Police sources said that Vijay’s gang members had plotted to kill Ganesan and he decided to murder them after he came to know of it.
