Lorry driver escaping on bike after killing wife, caught on GST Road
A lorry driver, who killed his 37-year-old wife suspecting her fidelity in Pallikaranai, was nabbed on GST Road while he was escaping on his two-wheeler towards Tiruchy, where his first wife’s house is located. Police said that he reconciled with the deceased woman, his second wife, recently after she left him for another man three-and-a-half years ago.

Police said the deceased was identified as Suganthi and her husband Ayyappan (46) was arrested for murdering her by slashing her neck with a knife when their two daughters, aged 8 and 10, were away playing in the neighbourhood in Narayanapuram at Pallikaranai on Saturday evening.
When their daughter returned home after playing on Saturday evening, they found the door locked from the outside and informed their neighbours. While the neighbours attempted to reach her over phone, they could hear the phone ringing inside the house, without any response. On suspicion, they checked through the window and found Suganthi lying in a pool of blood. Immediately, Pallikaranai police were informed about the incident.
Police said that the couple were earlier residing in Mugalivakkam along with their children. Ayyapan used to transport cargo across the country and sometimes took weeks to return home.
Meanwhile, Suganthi developed an affair with a man named Rahman and moved to Pallikaranai along with the two daughters.
After Rahman left her six months ago, she and Ayyappan decided to live together again in Pallikaranai. However, the couple started fighting again over her suspected relationship with some other man last week.
After a similar quarrel on Saturday, Ayyappan allegedly slashed her neck, killed her and left the house after locking it.
He was riding on a two-wheeler towards Trichy, where his first wife Saroja is living with two kids. He was stopped on GST Road during a vehicle check. As soon as police stopped him, he confessed killing his wife. Following this, the police handed him over to Pallikaranai police for further action on Saturday night.
