Burglary attempt fails at Mandaveli

Unidentified men broke open a shop in Mandaveli in a vain burglary attempt on Saturday night.

B Sriram (53), resident of Devanathan Street, is running a DVD shop on the same street. On Saturday, he locked the shutter of his shop and went home.

Though the shop is usually closed on Sundays, other shopkeepers found the shutter lock missing and alerted Sriram. Abiramapuram police have registered a case and further investigation is on. As no property was found stolen, police suspect that the miscreants must have fled the spot after noticing some movement.

Meanwhile, a lawyer has lodged a complaint at Ice House police station alleging that the smartphone kept in her house was stolen by unidentified persons. M Vathsala (29) of Triplicane, a lawyer practising at the Madras High Court, left her iPhone in the hall while she remained in her room.
