Driver suffers heart attack, stops bus to save students
Even after suffering a sudden heart attack, a 37-year-old college bus driver pulled over and parked the vehicle by the roadside of GST Road, saving as many as 40 students, before he died on Thursday morning near Meenambakkam.

The deceased was identified as Thangavelu of PV Nagar in Vysarpadi, who was working as a bus driver at Vels University in Pallavaram for six years.
Thangaraj used to start the bus from Ambedkar Nagar, picking up students from north Chennai. On Thursday morning, the bus was travelling on the GST road near the old airport around 8.15 am when the bus slowed down and stopped on the side.
When some of the students checked the driver, they found him holding his chest and writhing in pain. He could not even speak, and soon fell unconscious on the steering wheel. Thangaraj was rushed to a hospital in Chromepet where he was admitted in the intensive care. Around 10 am, he died.
