“The arrested persons are Naxals. They planned to kill PM Narendra Modi. A letter, which was seized, detailed a plan to murder Modi in the same manner how former PM Rajiv Gandhi was assassinated,” said Radhakrishnan, while addressing media persons at the Chennai airport on Sunday.
He criticised Rahul Gandhi and others for opposing the arrests of the activists, stating that the Maharashtra police had made the evidence public.
Radhakrishnan further said that the murder of Rajiv Gandhi is still fresh in the minds of people and they do not want another Prime Minister getting murdered. Radhakrishnan said that the economy of the country had grown to 8.2 per cent in the first quarter of the year due to steps taking by Modi in the economic sector.
